About
For centuries, weaving has formed an integral part of the Coast Salish communities' culture. Around 82 years passed while the tradition of weaving lay dormant. Debra Sparrow, Chief Janice George and Angela George, among other Coast Salish weavers have since revived these lost traditions. This film explores the life of Debra Sparrow together with the cultural and spiritual meaning that weaving has had in her life and the Coast Salish communities. Her last mural project, "The Cathedral Square Project", represents the coming together of the 3 major tribes in what today is called "Vancouver, BC". Recent discoveries underneath residential school remain in Canada have made this project taken an important turn. For Debra "this is not art as you know it, but a way of life as we know it"

It's about bringing weaving back into the world. The thing that grandpa left with me when he left this world, everything I've shared with you you share it with anyone else, he said: Know who you are, know where you come from."
