We were reaching out to the family behind Born Free with the idea of revisiting the legacy from a new angle; at the same moment, the actors’ grandson—part filmmaker, part conspirator in good trouble, wrote to us about a similar concept but from another angle: Jonny Baxendale, godson to George, a pilot and photographer whose life had drifted, as lives will, toward conservation. Through the years, Jonny has built a library stacked to the ceiling of old analogue film. Although getting on a bit, his spirit is still very much a light and he wishes the collaboration of west African conservancy to continue after his time. We follow his journey to achieve clarity and promote unity (Umoja) amongst the various chapters and communities of this rich land.
